VBeam is a 595 nm pulsed dye laser cleared by the FDA to treat rosacea, visible blood vessels, spider veins, port-wine stains, hemangiomas, scars, stretch marks and benign pigmented spots. Paz Dermatology offers VBeam at its Fresno and Visalia, California offices.
Calmer, clearer skin
VBeam is a pulsed dye laser, a type of laser that’s especially good at reducing rosacea, red birthmarks, broken blood vessels and other red spots.[1] Its light is absorbed by the blood inside small vessels, which heat up and close, and your body clears them away over the following weeks.
VBeam is also cleared to treat scars, stretch marks and benign brown spots.[2]
What it can treat
- 595 nmThe wavelength VBeam uses, chosen because blood vessels absorb it so well.
Your VBeam appointment
- Your consultation We look at your redness, vessels or marks, check your skin tone and medicines, and set your plan.
- Treatment You’ll wear protective eyewear. With each pulse, a burst of cooling spray protects and soothes the skin. Most people feel a quick snap.
- Afterward Skin is usually pink or a little swollen for a few hours to a day. Depending on the settings, some people have temporary bruising.
- A short series Many concerns clear in a few sessions spaced several weeks apart.
- Fewer sessionsLasers typically need fewer sessions than light treatments for redness.[3]

The Paz difference
Redness, understood before it’s treated
Redness can come from rosacea, sun damage, broken vessels or a medical skin condition, and the right treatment depends on which. Because you’re in a dermatology practice, your plan starts by finding the cause, so the laser treats what’s really there.
Is VBeam right for you?
You’re likely a good fit if you:
- Have rosacea, facial redness or small visible vessels
- Have spider veins on your face or legs
- Have a red birthmark, red scar or stretch marks
- Can protect your skin from the sun during treatment
Tell us before your appointment if you:
- Have a tan, or have recently used a self-tanner
- Take a blood thinner or any medicine that makes you sensitive to light
- Have darker skin, so your settings can be chosen with extra care[1]
- Are pregnant
After your appointment
Most people go back to their day. Some redness and swelling is normal and fades within hours to a day or two.
For the next week
- Wear sunscreen every day and stay out of strong sun
- Use a cool compress for swelling
- Skip hot showers, saunas and hard workouts for a day or two
- Don’t rub or pick at treated skin
Laser and light treatments can cause burns, lasting changes in skin color or scars, which is why careful settings matter.[3] Call us if you notice blistering or anything that worries you.
