AT A GLANCE

Juvéderm is a collection of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers that add volume to the lips, cheeks, chin, temples and jawline, soften under-eye hollows and smooth lines around the mouth. Paz Dermatology offers Juvéderm at its Fresno and Visalia, California offices. Results show right away and last up to one to two years, by product.

Put a little back exactly where you want it

Over the years, faces lose a little volume. Lips get thinner, cheeks sit a bit flatter, and the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth settle in deeper. Juvéderm gives some of that back.

It’s a smooth gel made of hyaluronic acid, a substance your skin already makes, placed with a fine needle right where you’d like more fullness or a softer line.[4] Most people see the difference before they’re out the door.[2]

The collection covers lips that have thinned, cheeks that have flattened, hollows under the eyes and at the temples, a chin that could use more shape, the smile lines around your nose and mouth, and a jawline that’s lost its edge.[3] Each area gets the gel designed for it, which is why the results look like you and never like filler.

What you can change

  • Lip fullness, from a soft refresh to a more noticeable pout
  • The little vertical lines above the lip that lipstick bleeds into
  • Cheek volume and lift
  • Hollows under the eyes or at the temples
  • The shape of your chin in profile
  • Smile lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • A softer, less defined jawline
  • Right awayYou see the difference as soon as the treatment is done. Most swelling settles over the next few days.[2]

Your Juvéderm appointment, start to finish

  1. A real conversation first You tell us what’s been bothering you in the mirror, and we look at your face together. Then we agree on a plan: which areas, which gels and how much. Holding back is always an option.
  2. Comfort built in Every Juvéderm gel we use contains lidocaine, a numbing medicine, so the treatment gets more comfortable as it goes.[3]
  3. The treatment itself Most filler appointments take 15 to 30 minutes.[2] Your provider places small amounts, checks the balance from every angle and adjusts before you’re done.
  4. Out the door Your new look is there right away. Some redness, swelling or bruising is normal, and it clears within 7 to 14 days, often sooner.[2]
  5. Keeping it Juvéderm is temporary, so a touch-up keeps the look going.[2] How often depends on the area and the gel, and we’ll give you a realistic timeline for yours.

Pick the look, and we’ll pick the gel

Juvéderm is a family of gels, each made for a different part of the face, and that’s why lips come out soft and a jawline comes out crisp. Here’s how they line up with what you might want.

The Paz difference

An eye for natural

Great filler is part anatomy and part eye for proportion. Before anyone treats one spot, we look at your whole face, because a little in the right place does more than a lot in the wrong one.

Our taste runs natural. A conservative hand gives the most natural-looking result, and you can always add a little more at a follow-up.[2] Taking some away is harder. And because you’re in a dermatology practice, your plan can reach past filler: if Botox or another treatment would do more for you, you’ll hear about it.

Is Juvéderm right for you?

You’re likely a good fit if you:

  • Want fuller lips or cheeks, softer smile lines, less hollow under-eyes or temples, or more shape at the chin or jawline
  • Want a change you can see the same day, with no surgery
  • Are 22 or older[1]
  • Like the idea of starting subtle and building from there

Tell us before your appointment if you:

  • Have had a severe allergic reaction to anything, including lidocaine or a previous filler[3]
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding, since filler’s safety hasn’t been established then[1]
  • Take a blood thinner or aspirin, or have an event coming up soon

Not sure yet? A free consultation is the easiest way to find out, and there’s no pressure to book anything.

After your appointment

Most people go straight back to their day. Expect some redness, swelling, tenderness or small bumps where the gel went in, and possibly a bruise.[3] These fade on their own within 7 to 14 days, often sooner.[2]

For the first few days, do

  • Use a cold pack if you’re swollen
  • Wait until the next day to exercise[2]
  • Book your follow-up so we can see how everything settled

For the first few days, don’t

  • Touch, press or massage the area for three days unless we’ve told you to[2]
  • Spend the first day in strong sun or heat, or drink alcohol

Serious problems are rare. The one that matters most is filler entering a blood vessel, which is a big part of why training and anatomy matter so much.[1] Call us right away if an area turns pale, dusky or very painful, or if your vision changes.

Concerns treated

These are some of the most common concerns Juvéderm helps with here. Pick one to see how we can help.

What treatment costs

Cost depends on the areas you treat and how much gel each one needs, so the fairest number comes from seeing your face. Your consultation is free, and you’ll know your plan and its cost before anything happens. You’ll find our current offers on their own page.
