Dermatologic Surgeon, Dr. Carlos Paz Kicks Off Summer by Partnering with Central Valley-Based Kool Breeze Solar Hats

Just over 10 years ago, Dr. Carlos Paz and his wife Vivian embarked on a challenging venture by founding Paz Dermatology in Fresno and Visalia. Their entrepreneurial spirit has always driven them to support local businesses, fostering a sense of community and collaboration.

In line with this vision, Dr. Paz has partnered with Kool Breeze Solar Hats Inc., developed and founded by Dr. Vernice Nellon. These revolutionary, patented solar cooling hats are designed to deliver maximum airflow to keep the head and body cool, while the wide brim protects the face, ears, and neck from harmful UV rays. Manufactured in Fresno by another woman-owned business, Total Concept Solutions, these hats are distributed throughout the United States.

Over the years, Dr. Paz has surgically removed thousands of cancerous lesions from the face and head, many from patients who worked outdoors without adequate sun protection. Understanding the critical need for sun safety, he is committed to encouraging the public to avoid sun exposure whenever possible. When working outdoors, he advises applying broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher sunscreen every two hours, and wearing hats and long-sleeve shirts to protect the skin.

Dr. Paz emphasizes the importance of sun protection, stating, “Kool Breeze Solar Hats are a great sun protection tool for folks in the Central Valley who work outdoors in agriculture and construction. They are excellent for gardening and outdoor recreational activities.”

To commemorate Skin Cancer Awareness Month and support a local business, Paz Dermatology will feature, sell, and raffle Kool Breeze Hats at its offices. Dr. Paz has also created a couple of short videos to share knowledge on how to properly dress for gardening and outdoor work, aiming to provide more skin cancer prevention information to their patients and the community.

The partnership was launched in May to commemorate Skin Cancer Awareness Month and to kick off summer. Videos and photos related to the partnership will be shared throughout the summer on social media to remind our community of the importance of sun protection. Additionally, the Kool Breeze Hats were featured at the CVCF’s April Friend of the Foundation event. You can purchase a hat at Paz Dermatology offices or directly from [Kool BreezeSolar Hats].

The ultimate goal of this partnership is to enhance public awareness about skin cancer prevention and promote sun safety practices. Through these efforts, Dr. Paz hopes to make a significant impact on the health and well-being of the Central Valley community.
